Workplace productivity app Aerotime raises $2 million in seed funding

Bengaluru: Workplace productivity app Aerotime has raised $2 million in seed funding led by Nexus Venture Partners with participation from Y Combinator, Sequoia Capital India and Soma Capital.

The round also saw the participation of angel investors like Akshay Kothari, chief operating officer of Notion, Nir Eyal author of Hooked & Indistractable and Damien Coullon, vice president of Product, LinkedIn.

Founded in 2021 by Piyush Narwani and Dhruv Goel, Aerotime is a calendar that solves productivity losses due to fragmented meetings and constant distractions in the workplace, without changing anything in the user’s workflow.

Narwani and Goel have product and engineering experience, having worked with Linkedin and Amazon Web Services respectively.

“Priorization and context switching are two of the main reasons for this. Aerotime helps you be intentional about time and automates many workflows to save time,” Narwani said in a statement prepared Thursday.

The company operates in India and the United States. It derives about 70% of its revenue from the United States and 30% from India.

A study compiled by Atlassian pegs the payroll cost of unnecessary meetings for US companies alone at $37 billion, and Aerotime plans to increase productivity in this segment, Narwani added.

According to Aerotime, most companies operate on a manager’s schedule because it’s very difficult to find time with them, resulting in meetings spaced out on the schedule for everyone. This fragmentation of the schedule is not good for deep work, making working hours very unproductive, he said.
