Maharashtra boy, addicted to mobile chat app, leaves home; found in Goa a few days later

13-year-old boy from Badlapur in Thane district of Maharashtra who was addicted to social messaging mobile phone, left his home and was later found in Goa, police said on Friday. The boy was reunited with his parents on Wednesday, three days after leaving home, they said.

“The teenager left his home on October 31 after informing his parents that he would be away for a year,” said Deputy Police Inspector Sandesh More of Badlapur East Police Station.

His parents then filed a complaint with the police and a kidnapping case was filed in this regard, he said.

“When the police made inquiries with his friends, they learned that the boy had ties to other children on the Discord mobile application and used for to discuss in the group for hours, ”he added.

Her friends also told police that the focus group members decided to leave their homes to do something with a living to prove themselves, More said.

As a result, Thane’s police cybercell was tied up, which tracked down the IP address of the cell phone the boy was using and found the chats through which they learned he was in Goa.

“The police found him in Calangute in Goa and reunited with his family. He had traveled to neighboring state via Kolhapur,” the policeman said.
